  LATIN AMERICAN FILM SERIES
  The Other Latin American Film

The recent success of films such as Amores Perros and City of God has placed Latin American film at the center of the film festivals around the world. Nevertheless, this success has rested upon a series of stereotypes, such as urban violence and exuberant sexuality, and have eclipsed major (and perhaps more important) Latin American contributions to the art of cinema. This series seeks to present viewers with some of those lesser known films, in order to portray a more complex view of the region’s filmmaking.
